How ClearVision makes a positive impact

Making a meaningful, positive impact on the lives of others is a distinct part of ClearVision’s mission and ties to our governing values. We strongly believe that we are fortunate to have a successful company and that provides us with an opportunity and an obligation to support our community.

Throughout the years we have woven varied philanthropic efforts into the culture, offering options for everyone to get involved in what interests them. This provides leadership opportunities for individuals at all levels, while reinforcing a message of compassion, respect, and integrity. Our campaigns are also designed to foster creativity, teamwork, and company spirit. We provide a company paid benefit of 16 volunteer hours per year and have a committee, CVO Cares, dedicated to sourcing new ways to give back to meaningful causes.

Some of the ways ClearVision gives back

Some of our notable local efforts have included:

  • Our largest philanthropic accomplishment was tied to Big Brother Big Sister. Using the concept of decluttering in time for spring cleaning, we encouraged employees to work as a department to collect clothing. Through inspiring daily communications, internal support, and a message that this was becoming bigger than we ever expected, we actually amassed over 12,000 lbs. (6 tons) of clothing.  Our collection was recognized as the biggest clothing driving in the tristate area, achieving far more in two months than any other efforts had in a year. As a result, 4,000 people were clothed and seven kids were matched with mentors for brighter futures.  This was recognized by SmartCEO Magazine as a Deal of Distinction in NY for 2015. We continue to support BBBS on an annual basis.
  • The Mary Brennan INN Soup Kitchen has been a key volunteer day for our employees to feed the homeless, including two trips dedicated to our leadership team. With an extensive clothing boutique and food pantry, volunteers provided their sweat equity for this meaningful cause. The unique experience humbled participants and left CVO wanting to do more. We hosted a relay race to create cutlery sets for them and donated books for their collection. While have took a break from volunteering during the pandemic, we still support the INN often with donation drop-offs.
  • A dynamic collection for LI Cares food bank has become an annual tradition.  When we were together in the office, each department was asked to embrace a theme and architect a structure made of non-perishable food items.  The creations are always so impressive, and our last event far exceeded past donations with over 3,000 lbs. of food acquired within 2 months. LI Cares has recognized us locally for such an impactful donation.
  • Throughout the year we collect items for Haven House, a local organization that provides shelter to the homeless and mentally ill. Aside from employee donations, we often make the effort to contact large corporations and neighboring companies to contribute too. It has become second nature for employees and sales consultants to snag hotel toiletries on vacations or work trips. In the last several years we have donated more than 30,000 toiletry items – more than enough to help provide for the 30 families in emergency housing and 120 individuals in community residences.
  • Other activities include our Stuff the Bus drive with United Way and Angel Toy Drive for EAC Child Advocacy Center.  We also taught life skills at local schools through Junior Achievement, and volunteered days at Camp Kehilla for special needs kids.  We annually raise funds through an employee sunglass sale for World Sight Day on behalf of Optometry Giving Sight to help prevent blindness.

What organizations are you compelled to support? How do you weave philanthropy into your company culture? What are your employees passionate about? We'd love to hear how you're supporting your community! And if you have a cause you think ClearVision should support, let us know!
