ClearVision Optical Celebrates Innovation at the 2nd Annual Student Innovation Awards

This week, the Hayes Center for Practice Excellence hosted its 2nd Annual Student Innovation Awards, proudly sponsored by ClearVision Optical.

The event showcased forward-thinking ideas from talented student finalists, who pitched their innovations to a panel of judges—including our very own Jill Eldridge, Director of Sales – SW Region!

A huge congratulations to Maryam Ahmadi, ’28, for winning the $5,000 top prize with her groundbreaking presentation, From Chaos to Control: Introducing the Automated Contact Lens System! As part of her achievement, Maryam will join other Innovator Award winners at the 2025 Vision Expo East in Orlando, FL, for a special recognition event.

Maryam moved from Iran to the U.S. in 2011, earning her bachelor’s degree in biology before continuing her education in Canada. After completing a thesis-based master’s program focused on research and laboratory work, she was drawn to optometry as a way to combine scientific inquiry with real-world impact.

As someone passionate about research and problem-solving, Maryam saw the Student Innovator Award competition as the perfect platform to share her ideas. She plans to keep her award in savings as an emergency fund, ensuring financial stability during her optometric studies.

"I would like to express my sincere thanks to ClearVision, the sponsor of this event," Ahmadi said. "This competition allowed me to bring my passion to the forefront and to share an idea that had been on my mind for months. This recognition means a great deal to me, and I look forward to continuing my journey of innovation and developing the automated contact lens system in the future."

The Hayes Center, established in 2005 at the Southern College of Optometry, equips students with the education, tools, and resources necessary for success in independent optometric practice.

ClearVision is proud to support the next generation of eyecare professionals through this initiative in partnership with the Rick Bay Foundation. Congratulations to all the finalists for their creativity and dedication to shaping the future of eyecare!
